Kannada fonts for Baraha users

As we all know, different Kannada software vendors are using their own encoding for the Kannada fonts they are providing. They are not following any standard as for as the Kannada fonts are concerned. Due to this, the Kannada text will appear as 'junk' when transferred from one software to another. In other words, we won't be able to read the text from Kannada Prabha using the Prajavani fonts. We won't be able to read the text from Prajavani using Udayavani fonts.

Foreseeing the future implications due to lack of a standard for the Kannada fonts, the Kannada Ganaka Parishath, with the support from the Karnataka Govt had proposed a Kannada Glyph Codes standard. The Karnataka Govt. has directed the various software vendors to change their existing fonts to this format.

Towards that direction, Baraha was the first Kannada software to implement this new font standard. Baraha ships with 7 different styles of Kannada fonts. Future versions of Baraha will conform to this standard.

Kannada software users now have a repository of good number of different styles of FREE Kannada fonts to choose from, for creating a professionally looking document or DTP work. The following list shows the different Kannada font styles of Baraha.
