1) Internet Explorer 5.0 problem
If you are using Internet Explorer 5.0 & above, for browsing the HTML documents created using Baraha fonts, Some times you may not be able to see the Indian language text properly. In such situations right click on the IE 5.0 window and select Encoding | User Defined menu command.
2) MS Word problem while using Baraha Direct
When you are typing Kannada words in the MS-Word application using Baraha Direct sometimes you may get improper output. This is due to the AutoCorrect and AutoFormat options in the MS Word. These options automatically change the characters as you type to correct the words. These options are useful only while editing English documents. You must disable AutoCorrect and AutoFormat options while editing Indian language documents. Click Tools | AutoCorrect menu command in MS Word to go to AutoCorrect options and disable all the AutoCorrect and AutoFormat options. You may have the similar problems in other programs also such as PageMaker, WordPerfect e.t.c. try to disable that feature.
3) Windows 98 Wordpad.exe problem
If you use the Wordpad.exe program that comes with Windows 98/Windows 2000 operating systems, then the Indian language characters may break and does not appear properly. The Wordpad.exe that comes with Windows 95 does not have this problem.
4) Using smooth edges for screen fonts
If you use the smooth edges for the screen fonts option then for some font sizes the some characters disappear. It is also observed that on Windows 98 systems, using smooth edges for screen fonts sometimes corrupts the Baraha fonts. In such cases you may want to disable the smooth edges for screen fonts. This option is available in the others tab in the Page Setup (File --> Page Setup) dialog box.
5) Truncation of letters during printing in Baraha, MS Word... e.tc. when Italics font style is used.
In Baraha, MS Word and other applications, sometimes during printing, the last
character of the word gets truncated if it uses Italics font style. This happens only if
the Italics property ends immediately after the last character in the word. You can
overcome this problem if you add a space with the Italics style after the last character
of the word. See the example below.
<i>jIvanayAtre<-i>
In the above example, the last character of the word may get truncated.
<i>jIvanayAtre <-i>
In the above example, we have included a space with the Italics property. So, the
the last character of the word will not get truncated.
The above technique works in MS Word and other applications also.
6) Sometimes while editing using Baraha Direct, some Indian language characters do not come properly.
This may happen if you are running any processor intensive application in the background when using Baraha Direct.
7) Problems during the start-up of Baraha.
When Baraha program is started, it checks if the internet connection is available. If
the Internet connection is present, it high-lights the news icon
.
However, following side effects are noticed on some machines.
a) The Baraha program takes a very long time to show-up or hangs for ever.
b) Dial-up connection dialog box is shown to the user repeatedly.
You can resolve this problem by choosing Baraha program not to connect to Internet at all. To achieve this, follow any one of the methods given below.
a) Open the baraha.ini file in the notepad. In Baraha 6.0 and below, the baraha.ini file is in c:\windows directory. In Baraha 7.0, the baraha.ini file is in the same directory as Baraha program itself (For Example: c:\Program Files\Baraha 7.0).
Under [GENERAL] section, set CONNECT_TO_INTERNET option to 0 as shown below.
[GENERAL]
