Knowledge Base - Ligatures in Unicode fonts
Some Indian scripts such as Devanagari, Malayalam and Bengali use a lot of ligatures (combination of two or more consonants). But, not all the Unicode fonts may support all the ligatures of a script. So, if you think the rendering of a consonant combination is incorrect, It may be just due to the limitation of the font. In such a case, you should find and use a font which has the ligature you are looking for. Baraha Unicode fonts support all the ligatures that are commonly used in Indian languages.
The following example shows the same word rendered using different devanagari fonts.
