BarahaPad
BarahaPad is a Unicode text editor for Indian languages. It has basic text editing features such as Bold, Italic, Underline, Font, Font Size, Text Color, Alignment, Bullets and Indentation.
To type Indian language text:
- Select the desired Indian language under the Language menu.
- Start typing. (Kannada, Kannada keyboard, Devanagari, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Gujarati, Gurumukhi, Bengali, Oriya)
To type English text:
- Select English under the Language menu. (hot key: F11)
- Start typing.
The Language -> Default Fonts... dialog box shows the installed Unicode based (OpenType) fonts available for every script. User may select the default font/size for every script. Any Unicode font that supports an Indian script can be used in BarahaPad. When you enable Indian languages, Windows installs a single font for every Indian script. Additional fonts can be installed and used.
BarahaPad can open Rich Text Format(RTF) and Unicode text file(TXT in ANSI, Little-Endian and UTF-8 encoding).
The document can be saved as a RTF or TXT (Little-Endian encoding) file. The file name may be in Indian script itself. Press F11 to switch between English and Indian script.
Text can be converted from one script to another. Select the text and select the desired script under Tools -> Convert To menu command. (hot key: F10).
Indian language text can also be converted to ISO 15919 and IAST(see: Latin) formats. Text in ISO 15919 or IAST format can be converted back to Indian language text.
Text can be sorted in ascending or descending order. Select the text and select Tools -> Sort menu command. (hot key: F9).
User may insert special Unicode characters by using their hexadecimal values. This method may be used for inserting Unicode characters which don't have a transliteration.
